Last October, I headed out on a road-trip to Provence for a week with friends. I've already shared the little jaunt we took to coastal Cassis as well as our drive along the Cote d'Azur and you've seen a bit of Provence already from J&I's trip in the Spring 2011 but today I thought I'd share a bit more of Provence with you. One of my favorite towns has to be St. Remy {check out my first visit to the town here}. We planned our trip so we'd be in town on market day ....
Market days in France are basically the equivalent of heaven on Earth. :)
The soap stand always gets me and my friend. The scents are intoxicating and we love to
spend forever deciding which scents to spend a small fortune on. Lavande is always a favorite.
Propolis is actually 'bee spit.' We were told that the healing properties of bee spit were found
by beekeepers who always had perfectly moisturized hands. I keep a bar in the guest bath.
Citroens have to be the cutest of vintage cars - don't you think?
My fellow francophile + friend, B, and I, had a hug-in sesh with Vincent before we toured
the sanitarium he stayed at in the late 1800s. {It was my second time touring the St. Remy estate} :)

Below: VVG's painting of his room
The backside of the sanitarium boasts a gorge lavender field.
This grove of olive trees on the premises was possibly the same grove that VVG would paint in his free time.
The arch of Glanum ... Roman ruins on the edge of St. Remy.
I loved that we were there in fall ... my favorite season of all.
I'll share some more of Provence soon. :)
