When J&I lived along the Mississippi Sound, I always thought the calm coastline would be a beautiful spot for an intimate afternoon reception or a sweetly formal soiree of any kind. This gorgeously-executed inspiration shoot in Kittery, Maine, featured on Grey Likes Weddings {entitled The Mermaid and the Sea Captain} turns my vision to life! I'm in loooove!

Enviable 1920s styles from Boardwalk Empire

I've heard lots of buzz about HBOs new series Boardwalk Empire and based on these promo shots alone, I can tell I'll be hooked. Can't wait to soak up all the 1920s-inspired costumes and sets ... I'm thinking it might visually serve as a glitzed-up, frillier version of Mad Men ... Thoughts? Anyone seen it?

And p.s. Wouldn't these photos be so darling for a bride + bridesmaids photoshoot? ;o) YES!

Wednesday Nesting: Julie + Dan's anniversary shoot in Portland

With Monday having been my own two-year wedding anniversary, I thought it would be fun to share an anniversary shoot with you this week! And this relaxed session at a quaint cafe in Portland, Ore., comes across as perfectly uncontrived adorableness ... I can't help but imagine the same concept implemented at a Parisian streetside bistro ... Perhaps in the spring J&I should test out the theory ... seeing as we're just a short train ride away from the City of Light. ;o)

... I've never been to Portland but these photos are so inviting they're making me want to pack my bags, grab a loved classic title and snuggle up with a photo-ready cup of coffee in this sweet little Caffe Autogrill, just like Julie and Dan. :o)

I wanted to send over an anniversary shoot I just wrapped up -- we styled it using a cute cafe, some pretty coffee drinks and a fun international-inspired print by Made by Girl -- I was inspired by the idea of a romantic morning over coffee at a neighborhood cafe, and how romantic that can be. The couple (Julie and Dan) have been married for almost five years and it's so fun to photograph married couples since they have such a comfortable familiarity.

Kim + Dan's vintage-inspired Rhode Island wedding

Can you get over that house?! It's as if it were made to host weddings! Kim and Dan held their ceremony on the back lawn and had their reception in a side building that resembled an old stable - charming! Let's get right to it and enjoy these scrumptious photos:

Wednesday Nesting: Inside Corbin Gurkin's coastal Carolina home

Charleston, S.C., will always be my home sweet home ... I haven't been back in years but my roots are still firmly entwined with the memories I'll always have ... shopping on King Street, the sights and sounds of the Spoleto Festival, the sweetest iced tea I've ever tasted, Dock Street Theatre performances, boiled peanuts on hot summer days and the kindest hospitality I've ever found. So whenever I come across anything that oozes Carolina appeal, I pretty much melt.

That was the case when I came across photographer Corbin Gurkin's beautiful home on design*sponge recently. The strong French Provence and Gustavian styles resonate deeply with me ... And, of course, do I need to even address the fab antique finds?

Here's a little bit about her style from d*s:

The home is filled with a delightful mix of what Corbin identifies as flea-market finds, antiques and photography and paintings she or her friends created. Corbin’s design aesthetic for her house was inspired by country-French style, Swedish design and her exposure to the world through travel.

I love the different color palettes throughout the home ... wouldn't they all be lovely translated to a wedding board? You can see more of Corbin's pretty house here.

Simon + Leila's woodsy Connecticut wedding

Amaaazingly organic-looking bouquet ... the best kind of soft, magical lighting you could ask for ... romantic mossy centerpieces tucked among aqua ball jars ... this wedding has those delicious details and more. Wickman Park in Connecticut housed Simon and Leila's darling ceremony and reception and their decor couldn't have fit the venue any better. The reception was in an adorable cabin on the premises ... how fabulously intimate is that? I love. Enjoy:
