Vanessa and Chris wed in late November at quaint Mildale Farm in Gardner, Kansas. Together, the couple scoured antique stores, flea markets and Etsy for one-of-a-kind vintage details in order to create a charming rustic vibe - and they did an amaaazing job! Let's take a look:
Aren't they the most darling couple? And I lovelovelove Vanessa's hairstyle - it's the perfect modern touch for this vintageous wedding! Okay, let's hear the details from Vanessa ...
Tell us about your wedding style ... :
If I had to pick three words that described our wedding they would be warm, vintage and rustic. I have always had a passion for old things and I truly enjoyed infusing these details into our wedding day. We were always on the lookout for inspiration at antique stores, flea markets, etc. Our base colors were navy and ivory...but the flowers, which were a muted fall combo, were what really completed the look. Pheasant feathers, hypericum berries and apples were mixed into the floral arrangements to get everything a more autumn/rustic look.
Personal touches ... :
A few items that helped us add the vintage touch were ... An old set of house shutters that served as our place card display; a pair or vintage earrings found at a Kansas City flea market; a fur stole purchased from an etsy seller who wore it to her prom in the 1950's; my birdcage veil; navy evening clutch; and my feather hair piece.
Although I spent a lot of time focusing on the details to make the day personal, the barn where we had our reception had so much character it really didn't need any dressing up. Mildale Farm is 5 minutes down the country road from my parent's home and I used to drive by it on my way back to college at Kansas State University. It is an amazing sight from the road and I always joked about this being the place where I would get married. Little did I know that the barn was even more beautiful on the inside -and it would be the place where I would get married!
Favorite Moment ... :
The day of the wedding, it was like everything just fell into place. The details we'd spent months planning fit perfectly with the venue - creating the romantic, vintage feel we had hoped for. I remember looking around the barn at one point in the evening when everyone was dancing and it occurred to me that never in my life had I had all of the people that I loved in one place...until then. That was our favorite part of the day! It was everything we had hoped and more :)
Advice ... :
My advice to other brides would be not to stress out too much over the decisions. In the beginning I would go back and forth so much that it felt like we were always discussing, but never accomplishing anything! I finally got to the point where I said "I'm going to decide, be happy with it, and move on!" And I didn't look back after that :) My other piece of advice would be not to worry about how things are "supposed" to be done. Your wedding day will be more personal and more "you" if you don't follow the rules :) Good luck!!

I was in this wedding and the pictures are beautiful but don't begin to do justice for the lovely day that was Vanessa and Chris's wedding. Vanessa has a vintage chic style that is classic and gorgeous. So happy her wedding has made it to my favorite blog!
ReplyDeleteJust like the above post, I was there... they did a great job of adding a unique/vintage flair to their wedding. Might I mention, they also had a photobooth- which was lots of fun for everyone. Love Vanessa and Chris!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous vintage wedding! We are planning a wedding using her lovely bouquet colors just 30 miles south of Gardner/Edgerton! And, we are using Encore Elite Entertainment DJ service!
ReplyDeleteGreat photography!
What a wonderful wedding. The bride is so gorgeous and so is the groom but hey, they look so beautiful on that wedding. Even bride maids are so beautiful. Actually everything is perfect!
ReplyDeleteThey are perfect couple. Their aura is the same.
ReplyDeleteI'm considering using this venue as well...it's beautiful and just the style we are looking for! How did you turn it around from ceremony to reception? We're looking at an October date and the weather may be just too unreliable to move everyone outside for a cocktail hour. Did you rent out the whole farm or the estate house as well?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your insight!
Hi Catherine,
ReplyDeleteWe actually got married at Sacred Heart--about 5 minutes away in Gardner. However, I've seen pictures of weddings where they had the ceremony down by the water at the guest house, then the reception up in the barn. We only rented the barn, but you'd have to do the whole package if you wanted to do it that way. Congratulations and good luck...it's such a beautiful place!
Great Hair style And Fantastic look. And They Shared their moments.wonderful.
