Wednesday Nesting

Nov 11, 2009

We have been shopping for a new couch/sectional for our newlywed nest for over a year now. I've just had the toughest luck finding anything that appeals to my aesthetic in local shops. I fell in love with Room & Board's mid-century + streamlined designs but the closest shop is almost 8 hours away in Atlanta - boo! I've been thinking about a few leather couches from Restoration Hardware ... has anyone else experienced such disappointing couch shopping or is it just me?
If you have any suggestions for comfy mid-century designs, please let me know. I'm certainly open to suggestions. :o)

  1. As you know we love mid-century and I highly recommend Design Within Reach. (www.dwr.com) However - their prices are high, so I recommend following their blog and seeing when their warehouses have sales (you can even call them and they will tell you what they have in stock). You can get anywhere from 30-75% off. We picked up an Eames cabinet for 50%, a Nelson light for 40% off, and a Moooi couch for 80% off!
    Have fun!

  2. I'll definitely have to check out DWR's blog ... thanks for the tip, Vicki! Sounds like some great deals!

  3. We also got a couch from DWR (the neo sectional in grey) after a very long search.

  4. We bought a Restoration hardware couch similar to this one after a looooong hunt, so I know the feeling. Great shape- nailhead accents - same color. Have you thought about creating a "nesting" registry there? Just like a wedding registry, there's a great completion discount. Just sayin' ;)
