Sachet bar

Sep 17, 2009

I just came across the idea of having a sachet bar rather than the popular candy bar at a wedding and I am loving it! What do you think?

  1. I'm not sure about this one. Sachet seems to appeal to the 13-25 age set for women only. What will men and the older guests get out of it? I do like the idea for a bridal or baby shower, but it feels like you're leaving out half your guests or more with a sachet bar.

  2. I agree with Valerie. Also the men...they wouldn't know what a sachet even WAS let alone make one, even if manly scents were offered.

I think sachets are beautiful, but personally I wouldnt take one with me

  3. I think it's great. Most of the men have a wife or girlfriend who would love it, and let's be honest, most men don't take the favors home anyways (unless it IS a candy bar). I also love the photo you found, the monogram and simply white linen satchet is beautiful.

  4. I would love one, and I would stay extra long at the reception to see who didn't want the one they had made for themselves....maybe they would like for me to have it! smiles.

  5. Thought I'd jump in and share my two cents. It's very true that the sachets would appeal much more to women than men but I don't think they have an age limit as Victoria suggests. I remember my grandma always having sachets lining her drawers ... so, for that reason, I guess I've always associated them with older women. But I love that they may be having a resurgence among the younger crowd.

Also, if it's *your* wedding and you love the idea, I say go for it! At my wedding, we packaged salt water taffy in mason jars for the favors b/c it had a coastal feel and we thought it would be gender neutral and appeal to everyone. We made enough so that every guest could have their own ... and we were left with a TON! So even if you try your hardest to come up with a favor you think *everyone* will like, trust me, some people will just leave it. So go with something you love - that way, at least when you are stuck with the leftovers, you'll be able to enjoy it. ;o)

Wow, I didn't mean to ramble for that long!

  6. It sounds like a great idea to me! To echo others, though, I do think it would be more appealing to women than to men. On the flip side, I do like that it's not a food favor - a nice change.
