Aqua Mason jars

Feb 20, 2009

Recently, I was reminded of just how much I adore vintage aqua Mason jars ... the color alone makes me happy and I have several in our home that I use for storing scissors and craft supplies ... and the occasional bouquet of flowers! ;o)

... But I absolutely love when they're used in weddings. If I hadn't collected so much pretty milk glass for our own wedding, I definitely would have mixed in some aqua Mason jars. They add a crazy amount of charm and have such a laidback, Southern vibe. They're not only great for creating centerpieces (I think a cluster of three look just right!) ... they also look magical with tealights inside! You could sprinkle sand or pieces of seaglass beneath the tealight for a beach or lakeside wedding. These sweet jars are also perfect for serving low-country lemonade or sweet tea to guests before your ceremony.

... And they tend to coordinate with just about everything! Bright, colorful floral arrangements (tulips, dahlias) tend to pop with the contrast while lush pastel peonies could create a soft, romantic look.
Anyone used/using blue vintage Mason jars?

  1. I love love love the aqua mason jars. I have none yet, but am planning to mix it in with the milk glass collection we have going should I be lucky enough to stumble upon some.

  2. We're using them for ours. Our colors are kelly green and pale blue. I immediately thought about them when we discussed colors because I've been collected them for years! I have around 25 of them! We are going to use some for vases, some for candles in windows, etc. All of our centerpieces are going to be a bit different.

  9. K: Check out antique shops/malls, flea markets, estate sales, etc. I'm sure eBay would yield results but it's not nearly as fun as searching on your own!

Enjoy the search and best of luck!

  11. I'm using regular, clear Mason jars for my centerpieces, along with tea tins ala M. Stewart. These aqua jars would be great for the head table or some of the smaller ones would be nice to use as tea light holders.

I found A LOT of these jars (most in "perfect" condition) for reasonable prices on Ebay. YEA!

  14. I'm using them for my Oct wedding. It's very rustic, so these blue mason jars are perfect!! Luckily my grandmother had about a dozen she gave me, and i found some more at a local yard sale!! I also bought some online (shipping is expensive!) and others thru flea markets. Honestly wasn't hard finding them if you just keep your eyes open. They are def more expensive than the clear ones (since u can buy them at any store) b/c the blue ones are no longer being made.....I LOVE THEM!!!!!

  15. Anyone know where to find knockoff of these aqua and green and blue mason jars? My fiance and I are getting married on a cruise boat on Lake Champlain and we really want these colors, but I don't want to start a collection of expensive antiques, just for the table centerpieces. Any ideas? :)
