Here's a peek at the (faux-)vintage map of Paris I briefly mentioned earlier. I just love the sublime pastel shades. When I first spotted it, I immediately had images from Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette dancing through my head! Yum.
Wouldn't it be lovely to incorporate vintage cartography into your wedding stationery? I've always been intrigued with maps and street names - there's such incredible history and significance documented in them and when done right, they can truly be a piece of art. I'm on the hunt for a pretty, white-washed and ornate frame to be this little print's new home!
I found the map at the sweetest little shop in New Orleans called Gem de France, which carried all sorts of beautiful French products. A heavenly aroma of lavender wafted through the charming store and my Mom was thrilled to find a fab assortment of Le Jacquard linens. If you have the chance, check this shop out.
And guess what ... we're heading back to the Crescent City tomorrow! J has the day off so we're taking off for another little day-trip. Can't wait to see what we find this time!
p.s. Much thanks for all the great tips on places to go, stay, eat, etc. in NoLA - please keep them coming!
For the love of cartography

ReplyDeleteYou should check out Irene's Restaurant for dinner. Amazing local restaurant that doesn't take reservations, and has a lovely piano bar in the back while you wait. A hidden jewel in the Quarter.
ReplyDeleteHi, can you tell us more about your map shoppe experience? I have commissioned an artist to create our wedding stationery suite based off of vintage maps just like the ones you've posted. We are in the pre-design phase and are gathering ideas right now. I would love to see some more inspiration! :)
