Sweet reflections

When I first saw this photo, I was instantly reminded of a photo I took as a little girl when I was a flower girl in a friend's wedding. My mom still loves it. And so, together, we decided it would be sweet to have a similar photo taken almost 20 years later on my wedding day.

Thus, the hunt for the perfect mirror ensued. I love the darling little one we found at a local boutique. It's actually from the 1960s, refurbished with a distressed look:

Something old

During my many antiquing trips over the last few months, I've acquired several 'something old' pieces to include in the wedding and I thought I'd share three of my favorites.

I loved the two brooches as soon as I saw them but still haven't decided how I'll use them. They won't work with my dress so I've been trying to come up with other options ... Any ideas?

And the beading on the clutch is really exquisite in person, the photo does it no justice.

If I could have my absolute choice for our chairs, it would be the white Bentwood design shown above. I also love the metal folding style - it just screams garden wedding ... I can already picture twinkling string lights dancing over the table tops.

But ... most unfortunately, we do not have the pleasure of picking from either of these two beauties. Instead, we are left with two options: Cover the maroon-colored banquet chairs that are provided at our venue or rent the standard white folding chair that you see everywhere. I have never liked the look of a covered chair and after calling around, I've found it would actually be cheaper to rent a chair rather than a cover. Odd, no?

Favor envy

I already have the boxes, the ribbons, the tags and the candy picked out for our favors and I was content with the whole concept ... ... ... until I saw these scrumptious-looking macaroons by Paulette over at oh joy!

*sigh*

Unfortunately, Google Reader doesn't have a wedding-favor-censor option (yet) to prevent me from turning green with envy over such a tiny little detail.

Make-up trial

Just got back from my MAC make-up trial! What fun! I had brought in tons of photos for inspiration -- all with eyeliner only on the eyes (which I posted earlier) ... turns out, I may be a fan of the look on others but definitely *not* on me! We ended doing the eyes over with a smokier look which I liked a lot more ... it's a lot closer to my everyday look and didn't make me feel weird! I also really loved the false eyelashes but looking at photos now, I'm starting to think they're a little tooooo long?

Honest opinions, anyone???

ahhh, P.S. Also note the change in hair color ... some of you had asked to see my new brunette shade a few months ago. Better late than never, right? I do miss being blonde but I certainly don't miss the maintenance and money it took! ;o)

Update:
Thanks so much for the feedback! I'm glad I wasn't the only one with hesitation about the faux lashes ... I'm going to schedule another session and try my natural lashes vs. another (more natural-looking) set of falsies. :o)

Study Hall, Session 3

This week in Study Hall:

I've been toying with the idea of adding a little information card with our invitations ... either directions or info on our Wedding Web site and then I stumbled across this idea over at Peonies and Polaroids. This could work.

I've been in love with the genius of Saipua for a little while now. Their arrangements seem so natural and organic. I feel like if Mother Nature were to open up her own flower shop, these would be the kinds of bouquets she'd have for sale:

And, lastly, I've recently started admiring weddings featuring white starfish. Whether they are tied to the back of ceremony chairs with a ribbon, used to adorn welcome baskets or serve as escort cards with a tag attached. I think they look so clean and fresh and are perfect for a beachside soiree. So, I'm thinking about getting several and arranging them in a large apothecary jar my Mom has at home and placing it on the guestbook table.
