Something old

Jul 18, 2008

During my many antiquing trips over the last few months, I've acquired several 'something old' pieces to include in the wedding and I thought I'd share three of my favorites.

I loved the two brooches as soon as I saw them but still haven't decided how I'll use them. They won't work with my dress so I've been trying to come up with other options ... Any ideas?

And the beading on the clutch is really exquisite in person, the photo does it no justice.

What's your Something Old?

  1. You could use one of the brooches on your bouquet wrap! It would look really glamorous! :)

  3. I think they'd look fab in your hair! If it works with the style you like :)

  4. i agree, my first reaction to the broaches was to put them in your hair. a little "untraditional" to think a broach in your hair, but they are beautiful and very eclectic!

  5. At least one of my "Something Old"s (because I may have more than one) will be a piece of handkerchief or lace from my grandmother. I'll work it into my bouquet wrap.

I like the idea of using the brooches in your bouquet wrap or your hair - both are great ideas!
I'm going to use on on my cake - in the center of a ribbon bow that's wrapped around.

  7. I also thought of the hair idea because that is what I did with a pretty pin I found. My stylist was able to attach it into my hair on the side just like a barrette, and it was a pretty, classic, vintage touch. I also was happy that it gave my hair a little 'bling' once I had removed my veil after the ceremony.
You could also attach them to a wreath or flower girl's pillow too if you are using either of those items.

  9. I was going to suggest using them in your hair as well. I love that look. My something old, something borrowed and something blue was my great grandmother's saphire and diamond ring that currently is my mom's.
    Best Wishes, Becs

  11. For some very unique, stunning jewelry check out summerellis.com/bridal.htm.

She made a custom pearl bracelet for me for my wedding with a vintage clasp that was my something old and something blue - since it had blue flowers on it.

She does custom work and full bridesmaids collections, as well as vintage hair pieces. Everything is customizable with Swarovski crystals and pearls.

Email me if you would like a pdf full catalog of her bridal collection! She did such a great job with my wedding and I love to recommend her!

  12. Love the broochs. I have been looking for some to wear on my wedding day. My something old is going to be my mother's parents wedding rings that are going to be in my wedding bouquet and also my best friends wedding veil. May these items will give me luck in my marriage since my grandparents were married for over 25 years and my best friend has been married for 12.
