If I could have my absolute choice for our chairs, it would be the white Bentwood design shown above. I also love the metal folding style - it just screams garden wedding ... I can already picture twinkling string lights dancing over the table tops.
But ... most unfortunately, we do not have the pleasure of picking from either of these two beauties. Instead, we are left with two options: Cover the maroon-colored banquet chairs that are provided at our venue or rent the standard white folding chair that you see everywhere. I have never liked the look of a covered chair and after calling around, I've found it would actually be cheaper to rent a chair rather than a cover. Odd, no?
What chair are you going with?

I don't like covered either. I would go with the folding white wooden chairs. Those are pretty if you can't have these other beauties:)
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only one who noticed the chairs! It seriously bothers me when the tables are draped in gorgeous brocade fabrics and crystal candelabras, and the chairs are the regular forest green banquet chairs! Really, I don't know why rental spaces don't invest in more neutral pieces.
ReplyDeleteI've also never like the covered chair with sash and if it really is cheaper to rent completely different chairs, I'd go for it. It'll bother you in your photos.
I love the Bentwood chair. Classic as always!
Have you ever heard of charivari chairs? The come in gold, silver, white, and a dark wood. I live in MI and they are very popular here. I agree that it is really strange that hotels and banquet facilities continue to purchase ugly chairs! Covers are pretty, but take up a ton of space. In my opinion, charivari chairs are perfect. You can use them plain, with a bow or sash, or do what a friend of mine did and cover them with a sheer fabric and them tie a bow around. It is beautiful and takes up little room. Plus you can buy the fabric yourself! Try googling them. Best of luck!
ReplyDeletehey princess freckles! i like the chiavari chairs, as well ... but they're only offered in gold in my area and are about 5x as expensive as the chair i'm thinking about going with ... i just can't justify spending that much more (and in a shade i'm not keen on!) ... i agree, though -- if they had them in natural wood or white, i would highly consider them!
ReplyDeletethe chiavari chairs are gorgeous i agree and worth the extra $$. you can also put bows around them which is really pretty.
ReplyDeletei love the fact that i'm not the only freak out here obsession over the chairs at my wedding. we were given the choice of horrible folding, padded plastic chairs with a big black hirer's sticker on the back, or awful plastic garden chairs which would have required fussy covers. Thank heavens i have trawled the state and finally found some gorgeous natural wooden folding chairs which are perfect ... the cost of delivery over the 150km distance to our wedding site will be completely worth it to escape all that awful plastic ...!
